Treyarch gives status update on Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's incoming Wii U patch

We are wrapping up work on our next patch and hope to be submitting to Nintendo in the next day or two.

To those questioning our ability to get these out quicker, please understand that there is a process to this. Fixes have to be implemented by various people in the studio (all teams, not just the Wii U team), brought over to the Wii U, then tested thoroughly before the update can go to Nintendo. At that point, Nintendo spends time testing it on their end before releasing the patch to you.

Once Nintendo supplies us with a date that we can expect the patch to go live, I will publish another update. Sometimes they give us a few days warning, sometimes they give us a few hours warning. I will do the best I can to get you the information you are asking for in a timely manner.

I thought Nintendo allowed companies to just push out patches whenever they wanted.

Never, no company does that.

Also, what's up with the negs? Nothing wrong with the article lmao.

From my understanding, they can submit updates to Nintendo however often, just not directly publish them.

It's the GoNintendo Call of Duty community love. It will give you the warm and fuzzies in below freezing weather. Now, this one could be negative voted because they don't like that Nintendo is also testing the patches (I seriously wonder about this myself, as Nintendo had ABYSMAL testing on the Wii), or it could be because they don't like patches and think games should remain with issues, even if they can be fixed.

I don't know, most conversations to be had around here are short, when you bring up facts/history.

Patches are always welcome but I hope this leads to some DLC.

Agreed. This is the first CoD game in several years that I've really been enjoying, and I'd love to be able to download some new maps.

I see that little "NNID" and I'll be adding you here shortly! I have enjoyed the multiplayer (Team Deathmatch mainly), and the single-player campaign seemed a bit more understandable than the first Black Ops (even though the ending credits were OUT THERE!).

We know the 360 has the first DLC for an exclusive time period, and they haven't mentioned just yet IF it will hit the Wii U, but I would imagine with the Wii U reportedly being easy to update for that it will hit the same time as the PS3 and PC DLC release (here's hoping).

Now, what I kind of blindly hope for even more...Nintendo decides to "buy" all Wii U owners with a copy of Black Ops 2 the DLC for free. Microsoft gets it for an "exclusive" time period sure, but I would love to see Nintendo use it to promote the Wii U even more by buying the DLC for all Wii U owners with the game, since it has a much lower install base than the other consoles right now.

Feel free to add me but I'm regulated to smartphone internet for the next few months while we transition into a new house. Communication lines can't be buried until the ground thaws here.

That would be an awsome move on Nintendo's part but I won't be holding my breath. I'm still hoping for nuketown...

"To those questioning our ability to get these out quicker"

Since the last patch HORRIBLY BOTCHED THE ONE THING IT WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX, I think that Treyarch's speed is the last thing anyone's questioning.

First of all, let me make it clear: The back cover of the box says "Paid Services: Add on content", so unless Activision wants a lawsuit for false advertisement, they have to bring the DLC packs to the WiiU, too!

Other than that, there are TONS of things that need patching!

-Broken matchmaking
-OP sniper rifles(dying with a single shot at your foot???really?)
-Enemies appearing with GREEN letters and GREEN indications in the minimap.
-Hit detection(oh boy!)
-Even though this is a design choice, it needs correction: an enemy shoots you with a shotgun from 5m. away, but you can't see them in the minimap because they are using silencers! SERIOUSLY? WTF?
-The whole "get a wildcard and you end up using 9 items instead of 10" issue!
-The spawning system(enemies spawn right behind you, especially the ones you just killed, just because the game wants to award them with Revenge medals!)
-Bullet trajectory. It's funny how the arrows drop depending on the distance traveled while the sniper rifle bullets don't...ever...
-OP handguns
-Loading times
-Balancing times(and please, make the game ACTUALLY balancing the teams!)
-Party matchmaking(you end up in different teams when playing with even a single party member, most of the times)

There are other things, too...

Haha, I was wondering if you had made the purchase, but wasn't sure because I didn't see your NNID on the side the comments. I'll add you now!

I'm not understanding the hit detection complaints, bullets seem to register fine for me.

Same here.

There is a delay in accuracy when aiming down the sights or stopping when running, but not a problem.

If anyone wants to add me: alldavidnameused

Make sure you leave a note saying you're from GN.

Anyone having a problem with the gun randomly reloading itself? It's really annoying when you're shooting have half a clip left and your gun just randomly reloads...

Nope, just me hitting reload too fast...every. single. time! I do it quite often.

I have stuck with Team Deathmatch 99.50% of my matches. I haven't even really played Zombies, other than just hopping on it and dying quickly inside the spawn area.

I was going to add the message "GoNintendo" but I sent it from inside Black Ops 2, and it didn't let me do the message, just the request.

The made it easier for them, they can submit the patches for free and the time til goes live is shorter.

I seriously haven't noticed any problems with the game and I'm a COD veteran. The only minor thing I've noticed is when a new domination match is starting the game sometimes loads too late and I don't get a chance to grab the first flag, denying me my 50 points. It sucks a little but I can live with it. I haven't seen any hit detection problems, although I've always had horrible aim.
