Do you want to get Fire Emblem: Awakening as soon as it launches? It seems that the eShop version might be the way to go. Apparently the boxed copies have seen a shipping error. Here's what multiple retailers had to say.
Best Buy - Might not be available until Wednesday February 6
GameStop - Might not be available until Friday, February 8
Amazon - "Potential Shipping Delay: Delivery of Fire Emblem: Awakening pre-orders may be affected by manufacturer shipping delays. Amazon apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause."

@Tyeforce Wonderfully put. You pretty much said everything I've felt for years. (probably more clearly than I would have, might I add)
I'm gonna call my Gamestop to see what day it will come out and if they feed me the same shovel as they did for Mass Attack (telling me I was wrong about the release date), then I'm gonna download it at midnight instead and return the game for the refund after I get the art book.
Thanks! I believe this is a real issue and it's not getting the coverage it deserves. Probably because, until now, those Monday release games were games that many gamers don't really care much about. =/ But yeah, people need to realize that this isn't just about Fire Emblem Awaking, this is a big problem with all Monday releases.
You might want to check and even see if they got the pre order bonus. They got them in last week, but they aren't getting the game til this week. I know some of the employees have already taken the pre order bonus.
I didn't preorder at GameStop. I try to avoid shopping at GameStop when I can because they always cause me so much trouble. I did kind of want the art book, and just for the hell of it I tried to preorder in store last week, but they had stopped preorders by then, so I'm out of luck. I'll most likely be getting the game at Best Buy, since they've been the best with Monday releases from my experiences. They don't always get the games in on release day, but in some cases they have before any other retailer, even though it's usually a bit later in the day when they receive them.
Update: I called Gamestop and my store flat out said they were set to receive the game on Friday. He told me Nintendo hadn't anticipated the number of preorders that stores would wind up getting so they had to ship a little late to cover all of their preorders. Needless to say, this is good news for Fire Emblem's sales.
Since they were honest, (which my store's been better at since they got a new manager) I'll be patient and wait. Honesty is the best policy folks.
Meanwhile, in Canada... (seriously, I've had my copy of the game since LAST TUESDAY).
I preordered my copy on Amazon and the estimated delivery date is still Wednesday (Feb 6th).
are you a prime member or live near a distro center?
I wonder if that's why my delivery estimate hasn't changed, there is a big fulfillment center not 10 miles away.
Glad I am getting it digitally. I will be downloading it at Midnight.
Lets just raid Canada...
@ProfWho
Same here
Aside from the Monday delivery issues already outlined by Tyeforce, why can't NOA follow NOE's example and release games on Fridays? For a game like this especially, I'm assuming that it's targeted to an audience that is either in high school or above (uni, college, adult, etc). Monday is the beginning of a new work/school week and chances are, most of the people who this game are targeted at will not even have a proper chance to play the game until the weekend arrives.
So not only is there the impatience for the game to come out, but then there's an added impatience for the weekend to arrive when the game can be played without any other distractions (work schedules, school work, tests, etc.).
Just imagine how nice Fridays would be if you could finish your work/school week and reward yourself by going to the store to pick up a newly released game and being able to enjoy it over the entire weekend.
Yeah, I've called my Gamestop a couple times. First they flatout said it would be the 8th, then they said Monday or Tuesday but no later than the 8th.
Good to see it's not just my Gamestop screwin' up. Still would like this ASAP though :\
Those canadians! Let's raid their shops!

DEY TOOK OUR GAEMZ! /SouthPark
Retailers are probably too used to them releasing most of their big guns on Sundays in the US.
Nintendo World. I'm good.
I'm a prime member so I chose the 2 day shipping option. I think the nearest center is in Lexington, KY which is in an adjacent state.
This is a real bummer. I keep getting the Best Buy emails saying my item won't be available for pick up. I guess I'm just going to pretend that it releases on friday and if I get it before that its like I lucked out and got the game early. Glass half full.
THIS.
It's strictly business. If they release it Sunday they have a full week to count as "first week sales" instead of Friday where they would only have 2 days. America is a much bigger market thus Nintendo investors pay close attention to Nintendo's success in the states. Simple business.
I haven't gotten any emails from Gamestop at all regarding my order.
I only preordered from GS for the artbook and also chose overnight shipping. I'll be very upset if I don't get my game tomorrow because not only haven't I received any notice emails, they also already took the money out of my account for my game. They did that two weeks ago when the street date was broken for some so I was hoping I'd get it sooner, not later. Hopefully if I have to wait I'll at least get the artbook and have my shipping refunded. I pay for overnight shipping to get it the day after release, not almost a week after.
I went into my GS an hour ago. The manager said it's a screw up on Nintendo's end, GS will get the game on Friday 02/08.
He gave me the artbook though!
I wonder if the FE: A Limited Edition 3DS is delayed also?
yea, I live right near the one in hebron and 80ish miles from Lex, so I often get 2 day shipping stuff next day, it's sweet.
