"The reason we've first made Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate in HD to then downscale the graphics to the 3DS is because it ensures that the quality of the images is maintained. It's a common technique when making videogames. We used a lot of PC's while developing the Nintendo 3DS-game, but that doesn't mean there's also a PC-version coming.
Eventhough we've got HD-assets of the game, the game is pretty much designed for the Nintendo 3DS. It's always been our focus and intention to the release the game for that platform. We have no plans to bring the game to HD-consoles. We have no plans to create a different version. The game is pretty much designed to play with the dual screens and to use the capabilities of the 3DS.
It's not uncommon for developers to save the HD-assets of a game to possibly use them in future projects, but at this time we've got nothing planned." - David Cox, producer
Looks like Cox may have realized that his earlier comments made people worry about picking the game up on 3DS. Some people would be more than happy waiting to get a console version of the game. Now Cox is trying to make it clear that there are no specific plans for that. Thanks to Ilovegamesforever for the heads up!

He probably had to back track and retract his statement. I'm pretty sure if you have an exclusivity contract you aren't allowed to talk about the possibility of porting it to other consoles
Bet he got an angry phone call. It's too late now though, the cat is officially out of the bag.
What did he say before?
@Autosaver
Essentially that they have an HD version of Mirror of Fate ready to go, if need be.
So they could perform a few tweaks and stick MoF on an HD console if their contract with Nintendo runs out or whatever.
This still doesn't mean that there's no possibility of an HD version. It could still happen, but he didn't mean to say "Oh yeah, wait for an HD version", since they aren't actually making one. It's just feasible and easy to do since they already have all the assets made in HD.
Like he said, the game's built for the 3DS, it's a handheld, 3D game through and through. It'd be really weird on a home console.
To compare, Revelations was built *as* a console game, but on a handheld, so the transition makes perfect sense. MoF would not, unless it was an arcade game or something.
Would've preferred this as a console game more like the original LOS. Probably skipping the 3DS version, as it doesn't appear to do it's concepts justice.
Nothing to see here...
