Do remember that the free digital game is only if you buy and register an XL between March 21st and April 30th.

Buy it or the game earlier and you may be out of luck.

How would they know when we bought it? Just register both items during the appropriate period.

Also, the page about the promo says, "Nintendo 3DS XL hardware registered on and after February 14th, 2013 can qualify for this offer."

No, man. They know these things for the purposes of warranty already. The info about the system sold goes straight to them from retail. You register a system and they can tell you when it was bought.

You're right about the fine print though. Why the dates at the top is beyond me if they say different ones in the bottom.

It's because that was when it was announced on the last Nintendo Direct.
