Nintendo looking into what cloud computing can offer
Iwata has already stated that Nintendo doesn't feel current cloud opportunities offer up anything important or useful for consumers. That doesn't mean they don't see potential. Nintendo has NERD looking into this tech in order to find uses that could better benefit gamers.
The developers at Nintendo headquarters need to spend their time developing the actual platform, so I think we’d like to explore areas that they don’t have time for. For example the possibilities which are opened up by the combination of cloud technologies and new software paradigms like general purpose GPU programming.
