The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons - How to access the GBA rings

As some of you know, playing Oracle of Ages/Seasons on a GBA instead of GBC allows you access to the Advanced Shop, which is where you can grab some special rings. How do you do that when you're playing the GBC version on a 3DS? Our friend Kolma has the answer.

Once you have beaten one of the games, either Ages or Seasons and you transfer your password from one game to the other you can visit the Ring Appraiser and talk to his Red snake to get the password from the first game and transfer it into the second. This will allow the transferring of collected rings. Using this chart you can find out the exact characters to edit in order to not only transfer your current ring collection, but also to transfer the GBA Nature Ring, and GBA Time Ring from Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages respectfully.

Check out the chart here

Nice, though the password generator is easier, as long if you prepare your password before starting your game.

However, there is no legitimate way to obtain these rings, right? Kind of an oversight on the part of Nintendo, if you can only complete your game by "cheating".

btw - weren't there some similar GBA only functions in Shantae on the GBC?

A much better way is slapping each individual cart into your GBA SPs and linking them , oh ya, nothing beats good old physical GB carts

What did you expect? When was the last time Nintendo ever put any extra effort into their ports?

This goes back to what I said yesterday... $5 each for a GBC ROM dump... one that you can't even fully complete... reminds me of Mario Tennis 64 on VC where several characters are unobtainable because of missing GBC functionality, and Nintendo couldn't even be bothered to simply unlock the characters before uploading their ROM.

So sick of them asking us to pay insane premiums for such lazy work.

Lazy I see Nintendo. It's why they don't release the Pokemon games. They don't want to bother doing the extra work in getting all the linking systems to operate. Especially with Stadium 1 and 2.

Doesn't change the fact that Nintendo could optimize their emulation for special content like this, but it's stretching it to argue the games cannot be "completed" due to this, when
A) the Time Ring and Nature Ring do absolutely nothing in the games and are mere "trophies" for the "You entered the Advance Shop! Yay you!" achievements in Ages/Seasons respectively.
B) getting all of the rings in either game doesn't give any kind of bonus, except for pacifying some people's OCD who cannot stand a blank space in the ring list.

Honestly not hard to see Nintendo not bothering about a "feature" that didn't even pass as a meaningful gimmick a dozen years ago.

Yeah, sucks that they wouldn't give us some kind of option to get those. I love collecting everything, when games have unlockable stuff that can only be gotten by linking with other systems/using it on a certain system the VC releases should have a way we can still use these features.

Seriously you guys just please stop. This isn't a good example to use when looking for reasons to rag on Nintendo. The rings do nothing and mean nothing. It wasn't vital.

Considering they are technically running on GBA hardware...

I was hoping they would edit it to make it the Virtual Console shop and make it always accessible. But I don't really care that they didn't, since the password linking feature still works fine.

OK, fine. What about my other example above? Missing playable characters is a huge deal to me.

@FrenchFryGuy And not having the Pokemon games on VC is fair? Hackers got all the link functions to work on emulators years ago. Nintendo can't do it faster and in a much better way. Please. They could even release original Red and Green as a bonus to sweeten the games. I just want to play Pokemon without losing my save file. Since they're the most common games to get erased from slight dust.
