Inafune wants Yaiba in Smash Bros., but Yaiba not coming to Wii U

Destructoid asked Inafune how he felt about Mega Man being in Smash Bros. He gave them this response.

"I'm really happy for that! It's great! And hopefully they'll put Yaiba in it in the future!"

When asked about Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z coming to Wii U, here's his answer.

"Yeah, no, not right now."

You know what I'm pretty sure about? I'm pretty sure Nintendo would never include a character in Smash Bros. that has never had any representation on any Nintendo platform.

Inafune doesn't really have a grasp on how a LOT of things work. Like why you would let Spark Unlimited do a stylish action game.

Stuff like this is why I never liked Inafune and was relieved when he left Capcom.

Also, to even consider that character is retardation...

His baby (Megman) has been accepted into the next Smash, and Sakurai is doing his darndest to stay true to the original concepts and design. That's a big honor for any non-first party Nintendo character considering, 1) Sakurai is VERY finicky about who get's into the Smash games, and 2) not too many 3rd party characters even get in it to begin with.

I don't wanna fault him for his excitement and wishful thinking, but c'mon... This is Smash Bros. not PSASBR.

I totally thought this game was coming to Wii U... what gives, Inafune? NG3 was good so why not NGZ?

Amen; I always found Inafune to be a whiny, bitter, spoiled brat. And that's before you get into the fact that his reputation was mostly unearned, having done very little as a designer when you got down to it. Heck, Inafune never even MADE Mega Man and he keeps getting credit for it.

He didn't design him, no, but he built the Mega Man franchise into what it is.

... and then destroyed it with a decade of network timeline garbage, so there's that.

No he didn't. He was a PRODUCER, that's it. He never did any design nor did he direct anything. He didn't even come up with CONCEPTS. He is a hack and a fraud.

Inafune: Hey Sakurai and Nintendo, its me! Inafune! I was wondering if you could put Yaiba in the next Smash Bros?

Sakurai: What was that thing you said in an interview... "Yeah, no, not right now."? Yeah, no... Not right now *thumbs up, smiling*

lol the amount of hate he's getting in this comments section is CURIOUSLY antithetical to EVERY OTHER ARTICLE about him on this site... Gee, I wonder why.

Is it really? It's easy to assume and generalize, but is only true if the same folks who are giving him flak now were the same ones putting him on a pedestal back then. I'm sure majority of the "hate" is due to him asking for more while giving nothing, or built from preinstilled hate. Not simply because his game isn't coming to Wii U. And even still, you can agree with his previous statements and STILL not like him as a dev/person.

Heck, here's two other posts where Inafune opens his mouth and most of the board roasts him for it:

http://www.gonintendo.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=94034
http://www.gonintendo.com/boards/viewto ... 3&t=109408

The only thing most folks were truly behind him for is that Capcom is being stingy with the Megaman franchise (and in general). And some of us are still waiting for that King of Pirates game...

Heh, it's like Team Meat, they said they wouldn't work for Nintendo unless they put Super Meat Boy in Smash Bros. What a bunch of jerks.

The bitterness around here is sad...some kind of mechanism to cope with the bad year for the wii u?

Inafune is talking about the future, which englobes other smash games (unless you think this will be the last one), in 5, 10, 15 years from now, for a different generation of consoles and with more than enough time for a new character to appear in a couple of games in Nintendo platforms and therefore fulfill the requisite of "had any representation on any Nintendo platform".

You never know what the future will bring after all...characters that seem like crazy impossible choices in the present could become fan-favorite candidates in the future...just look at Bayonetta 2.

Ugh no, Yaiba is such an ugly character and the game looks awful.

Oh, like Solid Snake in Brawl, when he was only in an NES game and a GCN remake (and a GBC something) with trophies of characters from non-Nintendo games. And a stage with an enemy & song from MGS4, a PS3 only game.

Yeah.

And Inafune totally didn't make a Guild game or start work on that penguin game for 3DS and offer to finish MML3 when Capcom said no. No, he hasn't given or tried giving to Nintendo recently.

I'm not saying the character has a chance. Just, get better arguments.

...That's not what they said...

And they were joking... but I know this site hates them for things they never said, or things they said, taken out of context.

So where'd Zero come from?

We all know he didn't create Megaman, but you're saying he made none of the other characters or designs that we were all told he did?

Yes he did. He wasn't the only one, but he was certainly a designer and director. Off the top of my head, he designed Elec Man and Zero. Explain the concepts he created for Mega Man's appearance in Street Fighter X Tekken (of which Capcom naturally picked the most embarrassing after he'd left). Explain all of the Mega Man X concept art with his name on it that shows Zero, Vile, and even Mega Man's evolution as characters.

Look, I'm no huge fan of the guy after the aforementioned decade of complete, lazy, insufferable garbage, and his constant hate toward Japanese developers while doing nothing to change it, but he did plenty for Mega Man. It wouldn't have been the same without him, and every time Capcom tried it themselves we got literally the worst of the franchise. That's X6 and X7. (X7 being argued by some to be 'Sonic 06' levels of terribad)

If you're still confused, go pick up Udon's 'Mega Man Official Complete Works' and 'Mega Man X Official Complete Works'. They're chock full of Inafune's (and others') designs. It gives a very clear indication of who did what. I'm sure 'Mega Man Zero Official Complete Works' does the same, but I haven't been able to get a hold of a copy yet.

@MoldyClay

If I'm my mistaken, Shadow Moses Island was the main setting for MGS1. The remake appeared on the GameCube. Sure Snake returns to it in MGS4 but its more of a throwback there. The enemy is... A Metal Gear. A MGS1 enemy. Did you play the original game?

The comparison is pretty stupid anyways here considered that Snake at least had 3 appearances on Nintendo platforms. That alone gave Snake some reasoning to be included. Sure I agree that he probably shouldn't, but the comparison is pretty bad. The NG game isn't hitting a Nintendo character so it's had zero reasoning. Sure Inafune has other games for Nintendo platforms but then include those instead

Because he made a silly comment in light of the fact that Yaiba isn't coming perhaps? It's a daft thing to say.
