RUMOR - GameStop manager says that Smash Bros. Wii U includes Amiibo figure, launching November 21

I don't how to feel about the rumor either way, but according to MyNintendoNews's Sickr, they have been in contact with a GameStop manager. This manager says that the Wii U version for Super Smash Bros. will include an Amiibo figurine and that the game will launch on the 21st of November.

They really should. It'll let people know that Amiibos are intrinsically linked with Smash Bros. instead of them having to actively make the association.

I wonder if maybe they will do multiple Amiibo bundles but make them retailer specific...?

So, how would Nintendo handle it for people who make digital purchases?

Well if a gamestop manager says its true, it must be.

I don't doubt Smash Wii U will be out before Black Friday. In fact I would have been shocked if they missed the biggest shopping day of the year for their largest region.

The free Amiibo thing I'm not so sure about. Did you see this years platinum rewards? I don't think Nintendo is into giving out free physical items anymore.

Free amiibo or not, I'm still gonna buy some.

@element
I think the lack of amiibos for the platinum rewards is more than likely due to the fact that there is no game out that can use them at this point in time. It maes sense to me, because you know people would be complaining that there is nothing that they can do with their amiibos. If they don't offer them next year then I could see the reason for being upset.

Except they're in production right now and likely to come out around the time smash comes out. Elite gifts get delivered late November anyways. They would've had plenty of time to get them made and then give them to us.

GameStop Manager? That guy is the nost unreliable one I've seen! He says a lot of things, but most of them are just guesswork. That's probably just his regional manager that supposed that would be the most logical bundle Nintendo could do and put it up in the database just in case.

Sickr basically makes all his/her money on rumours. I've been going on and off through mynintendonews for at least 2 years, and I keep leaving the site because
1. GoNintendo gets the news faster.
2. Their community sucks
3. They grab every rumour they can find/make and get revenue out of it. 95% of it is usually false.

Yeah, yeah... and when I used to frequent Gamestop, there was a manager and several of his employees that would pass on all sorts of garbage rumors. Some pretty stupid ones back in October of 2009 after HG/SS released in Japan, I recall. They were insisting that Sevii Islands were in the game and such... but I already knew that was not true since I had imported SoulSilver and knew they were not.

I'm not saying the release date is implausible, but I am saying the Amiibo thing is unlikely, or if it's there, it'll be a "special Gamestop promotion". But I can tell you right now, "managers" at Gamestop are peons, and don't know anything more than anyone else. By the way, that actually goes for the regional Nintendo reps, too. The one around here spouts just as much misinformation as the Gamestop managers.

This is believable and in all honesty, I think this would be an excellent way to get the Amiibo's started.

@kdognumba1 This.

I just hope there's a choice other than Mario, though [I'd want the likes of Link, Zelda, Kirby, Sonic, Rosalina, Greninja, Jigglypuff etc...]

That would be cool. I'd buy the game either way.

I'd love to get a Amiibo with it. And it would make a lot of sense. Plus, I was sorta expecting this kind of deal. ^^

I do hope it's true.

after that watchdog shame announce (they told people game was cancelled while ubisoft told them the game was only delayed)
it's really hard to believe them anymore...

True but I am not sure they would want to give them out. I am guessing that if there is a bundle the price will be more expensive.

Maybe it will be an amiibo of the new Smashcot character that will be revealed in the next Smash Direct.

It will cost waaay too much to send a Ridley Amiibo to everyone who buys it.

You know, it just might be a sort of coupon or something inside game boxes for a free amiibo. I assume amiibos will go on shelves either before or after smash releases, so I don't think that'd be a huge problem

Also Monster just watch it's gonna be Marshal

Actually, I Think Smash is suppose to launch with the Amiibos, so I expect them pretty much the same day. ^^
Oh, and call me MoM.

Also, nah. It'll be Pichu. :3

Might be so. Either way I hope none of the game or amiibos I want sell out by the time I get to the gamestop.

How would you guys feel if it was a random Amiibo that you got?

If it means getting an Amiibo I would never have bought by myself, I would actually be pleased. That would mean I would have an intelligent NPC playing against me that offer more diversity than my usual suspect. Heck, in fact, I plan to mainly buy characters that I don't main, just so I can fight characters I don't quite know, making me better against them and upping my versatility, even if I usually just play for fun. In fact, with these Amiibo, that may be the first Smash game I will actually play by myself... I never do that with the other games (only exception was the Subspace, one reason I liked it).
