GN Version 4.0
- the dev team decided to reset the series so that people wouldn't be disappointed by having the same experience again
- the mayor can decide whether they want Mr. Resetti's Reset Surveillance Center in the game
- the team was divided on including Resetti, so this is the solution they came up with
- the idea of retiring Tortimer and giving you control of everything came at a late stage in development
- many ideas were considered but scrapped
- the idea to pan for gold was scrapped
- the team decided to give the player the ability to choose store hours to make it less taxing on players that didn't have time during the day to play
- add other players as 'best friends' which will enable special features
- with a best friend, you can exchange messages without visiting
- you can also close your gates to everyone else

Iwata ended the interview by suggesting that players enjoy the game all year round, specifically the download version.

Animal Crossing is a game that I hope people will play throughout the whole year. But we want people to play other games too. So something I would recommend is the digital download version. I think a title like Animal Crossing: New Leaf , which you can play throughout the year, is ideally suited to this format. That makes me sound a little like a salesman, doesn't it? (laughs)
