GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - How much does third party content matter to you?

Thursday is here already and that's just fine with me. One more day to get through before we can really start to work for the weekend! Let's push on ahead and do our best, then relax the HELL out of this weekend! See you in a few, short hours.

Nintendo has, for quite awhile now, had a struggle with third party support. This is usually more of an issue on the console side of things than the portable scene, but it's still a well-known fact. Nintendo just can't seem to bring in the third parties like they used to. There were no issues back in the SNES days, but ever since then it's been rough going.

This sting is only made worse by the promises that Nintendo keeps offering up. Time and time again, we hear about how Nintendo is working with third parties to make sure their content is hitting the latest hardware Nintendo is offering. I'm sure many of us have believed this in the past, but as each console that releases, it's harder to go along with these comments.

Here we are again with the Wii U, where Nintendo says that they're reaching out to third parties for collaborations and more content. We haven't seen much of an indication of that yet, but maybe we'll get some news from E3. We can cross our fingers and toes tightly, but I don't know how much of a turnaround we can really expect. It would be nice to see a similar situation as we're seeing with the indie scene, but that seems doubtful.

All this leads me up to an important question. How much does third party content actually matter to you? When you purchase a Nintendo platform, do you only care about first and second party releases? Do you ignore third party content and pick it up on another platform? Do you find yourself upset with the lack of third party offerings? Leave us a comment and let us know.
