In a translated Nintendo Dream interview, the developers have answered the question if subspecies would be in the game. ''It depends on what exactly you consider a subspecies,'' said one of them. A good example is how monsters listed as Rathalos Subspecies and others like it won't make an appearance. Capcom did this to ensure that there would be a bigger variety of regular monsters to fight.
