Another episode, another rash of news to get riled up about. We get into a really serious discussion about Nintendo’s emulation crusade, and it bleeds into so much more. Yeah, we can get serious sometimes! Don’t worry, as there’s still plenty of other Nintendo news and silliness to go around

I'm not sure where to post this to get your attention, but please stop with the "Most emulators are pirates" line. It's one that has been repeated since the 90s, reality is it's utterly wrong. Sony pushed it hard back then, Nintendo is pushing it now. There is not a shred of evidence that they are correct, and I challenge you to find a single statistic at all that it may be the case. All you have is "instinct" and some legal filings. Please stop acting as an unpaid extension of their PR department.

Likewise I can't give you evidence, only experience. I've worked in software development for emulation both bigtime developing terminal emulators that the backbone of the US finance system runs on, and more underground with console emulation. I've been in this community for longer than you've been a journalist and the vast majority of emulators do it for reason - consolidation of hardware, better experience, or accessibility. The last one is big, Nintendo's utter refusal to admit those with small motor disabilities or visual issues like achromatopsia, mono/dichromacy or deuteranopia is alienating millions with legitimate disabilities who are forced to turn to emulators or just not play Nintendo games. I'm not saying piracy doesn't exist, but it's not the majority you make it out to be. Not by a long shot.

Please - go and participate in these communities. Spend a few months there, contribute. You'd be surprised why emulators exist beyond why Nintendo wants you to think they exist.
