The live-action Knuckles spin-off series is scheduled to premiere on Paramount+ on April 26, 2024. Ahead of the show’s release, the stars were out for Knuckles’ red carpet premiere, and the voice of the echidna himself had a lot to say about taking on the role.

Idris Elba has been voicing Knuckles since Sonic the Hedgehog 2, but now the character is the star of the show for this spin-off TV series. At the premiere for Knuckles, Elba seemed incredibly pleased to be a part of the Sonic franchise.

“It feels like a bit of a dream, it feels like being able to step into a video game, and into a film, because I’ve always loved Sonic. I love the world. I played the game when I was a kid and now I’m in it, so it feels quite surreal.”

Knuckles will bridge the gap between the Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 films. If you’d like to see more photos from the red carpet premiere for Knuckles, you can find a sizable gallery here.

The new live-action series will follow Knuckles (Idris Elba) on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade (Adam Pally) as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.

Each episode of Knuckles will be roughly one hour, giving fans of the echidna plenty to dive into. It’ll no doubt be interesting to see how this series leaves things as we lead into Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is set to arrive Dec. 20th, 2024.
