For a few years now, Nintendo has talked about just how important Nintendo Accounts are to their future. Nintendo wants to make sure they ease any transition customers go through with their products, and Nintendo Accounts are a way to make that happen. That’s why it’s not surprising to learn Nintendo will be taking Nintendo Accounts with them as they head towards next-gen.

Nintendo hosted an investor Q&A following their Fiscal Year results, and one investor asked Nintendo if the Switch successor would use Nintendo Accounts. Rather surprisingly, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa gave a straightforward answer and confirmed that Nintendo Accounts were sticking around.

While Furukawa didn’t give specifics, he did say that Nintendo Accounts will indeed be a part of the Switch successor ecosystem. Furukawa went on to say that Nintendo prepared Nintendo Accounts to support long-term relationships with customers across hardware generations even before the Nintendo Switch launched.
