Nintendo shared a wealth of information during their fiscal year 2023/2024 report, giving us all sorts of sales updates, install base figures, revenue data and more. Turns out they also have some plans to expand their board of directors with 4 new members, 3 of them being women.

Nintendo has said multiple times in the past that they’re looking to bring more women into the fold, and they’ve slowly but surely been doing that. In the latest example of Nintendo staying true to their word, the company has nominated 3 women to join their board of directors. If all is approved, the trio will join on June 27th, 2024.

The lineup of new board members includes Miyoko Demay, Eiko Osawa and Keiko Akashi. You can see their professional/corporate history in the breakdown below.

I think Nintendo is just looking for "regular" people who have nothing to do with games because they get some of their better/best ideas from people who have no gaming backgrounds compared to when Nintendo was starting out with arcades/home releases. They didn't want a feedback loop of only people involved with gaming coming up with all the ideas.

The people not involved with gaming usually may have more outside the box thinking even though sometimes yeah, that can backfire in some situations.

Checking the list seems none of them have history in games unless luxury/tax work is specificly around that, i guess its harder and harder for people like miyamoto to have an influence for the gamers instead of economics.
