Universal announced the upcoming film at CinemaCon
A new Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is planned to hit theaters in Fall 2025, distributor Universal Pictures has announced at the ongoing CinemaCon 2024. Production studio Blumhouse reaffirmed the film’s planned release date on Twitter following the announcement.
The first Five Nights at Freddy’s film launches last Fall and quickly became one of Blumhouse’s most successful films, so a sequel existing is no surprise. When more details are confirmed, we’ll be sure to share them here.
New Mario 'Play & Redeem' icons available for multiple games
Four new waves will kick off on April 15th
Switch icons themed around Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario 3D World are now available via the Nintendo Switch Online for users who have played the associated game. You can see all of them pictured below.
As per usual, the character icons themselves are 10 Platinum Points, while the borders and backgrounds are 5 Platinum Points a piece. Each of the four waves will swap out once again on April 15th. For these particular icons, fans will have needed to play the associated game for 24 hours across 3 or more sessions in the last month, so, if you’re hoping to grab a future wave, it may be time to start your latest Mario playthrough.
Wii U and 3DS online play is no longer available
You'll need a Switch to keep playing Splatoon
As of the posting of this article, Wii U and 3DS online play is no longer available for any title on either platform, barring Pokémon Bank and Poké Transport. Fans looking to play games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros. and Splatoon online will now need to turn to the Switch, with no other alternatives.
It’s a shame to see so many communities shut down. Hopefully we soon get some sort of successor to online games that have no Switch alternative, such as Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance delivers a full-fledged RPG that can be enjoyed by existing and new fans. At the start of the game, players will choose between two paths: the story told in the original Shin Megami Tensei V, the Canon of Creation, or the brand-new Canon of Vengeance. This dramatic new tale of revenge introduces brand-new characters, an enigmatic cohort of demons called the Qadištu, a new dungeon and a new map to explore. Additionally, the original Shin Megami Tensei V battle system, demon merging and field exploration have been evolved and expanded in this newest entry in the series.
Fire Emblem Heroes "Special Heroes: Double Vision" Trailer

New Special Heroes are coming to Fire Emblem: Heroes in the form of Robin: Fated Vessel, Emmeryn: Selfless Exalt, Lissa: Littlest Princess and Vessels of Fate: Robin (featuring Chrom), Nintendo has announced via a new trailer showcasing all of their accompanying mechanics. A new Paralogue Story titled “Double Vision” will also be added. You can watch the trailer above to see a glimpse of the new story chapter and what the new heroes, all child versions of popular characters from Fire Emblem: Awakening, look like in action. They’ll be available from April 5th at 12:00 AM PT to May 4th at 11:59 PM PT, so don’t wait too long if you’re interested.

The Neptunia series is trying something new
Developer Compile Heart just announced Neptunia VS Titan Dogoo via Famitsu, but some more concrete details have finally been shared. You can check out the opening movie above, and some screenshots from the game’s official site below:
Neptunia VS Titan Dogoo takes place in a different world from Gamindustri, where Uzume Tennouboshi and the four goddesses will meet in battle for the Dogoos. This is a competitive action game where you race on motorcyles in order to collect more Dogoos than your competitors. The game is scheduled to launch in Japan on June 27th.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 'Excitement Ranking' trailer shared

A new trailer has been shared for Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, planned for a September 26th release on Switch. You can watch it above to see the what you can be excited about when the game launches.
In Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, players will have to fight off the Gaiark, monsters who come pouring out from inside the planet. This puts the future of Earth in great danger, and you’ll have control one of four new classes from Earth Defense Force 6 in order to save the planet. You can fight to restore peace to a voxel Earth when the game launches this September.

Limited-time Splatoon 3-themed pop-up stores are opening throughout Kyushu
JR Kyushu teams up with Splatoon once again
Nintendo are teaming up with railway company JR Kyushu to open up limited-time Splatoon 3-themed pop-up stores throughout the region, the company has announced. This follows a recent promotion in which the company debuted Splatoon 3-themed trains. You can see the items pictured below:
These stores will be found in station buildings located in Kumamoto, Oita, Kagoshima, and Miyazaki. The stores will sell exclusive merchandise alongside items that can be found in Nintendo’s Tokyo store.

Romance visual novel Some Some Convenience Store will be launching on Switch on July 25th, publisher CFK and developer TALESSHOP have announced. You can watch the announcement trailer above to see the game in action.
In Japan, the game will receive both a physical and digital release, alongside a special edition, featuring an art book, 16-track soundtrack CD and acrylic panel, all pictured below.

Sol Cresta's price is less than half of what it used to be
PlatinumGames’ shoot ‘em up Sol Cresta launched a couple of years ago at a fairly steep price of $39.99 USD. However, starting today, the game will now retail for $17.99 USD, the company has announced. The ‘Dramatic’ DLC has also seen a price cut from $9.99 USD to $5.99 USD.
Fans who are interested in jumping on with the new price point can purchase the ‘Sol Cresta Complete Set’ package, which features the game, the ‘Dramatic’ DLC and the exclusive ‘Legendary Fighters’ pack, adding 3 new fighters to the game. This bundle retails for $24.99 USD, but can be purchased for $22.49 USD for a limited time.
Sol Cresta takes the docking and formation strategies of classic shooting games Moon Cresta and Terra Cresta and elevates them with the “free-form docking” system. The flagship Yamato, composed of the fighters Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and Susano can utilize various attacks depending on how the three ships are aligned. Docking, splitting, and reforming the ships as needed is the key to defeating the invading armies of Mega Zofer.
