The Nintendo Switch 14.0.0 firmware update just dropped, and with it comes a big new feature; folders! Now you can separate your games into folders however you see fit. Put all your Mario games in one folder, and Zelda games in another. First-party folder and third-party folder? No problem! With this new update, it should be easier than ever to keep the games you enjoy playing the most right at the front of your Switch’s home menu.

Full patch notes:

Ver. 14.0.0 (Released March 21, 2022)

“Groups” feature was added to the All Software menu.

You can now create groups of software to help organize your software titles.

Making groups for different game genres, developers, or whatever you’d like to organize by may make it easier to find the application you want.

Up to 100 groups can be created with a max of 200 titles per group.

The button to proceed to the “All Software” screen is displayed only when there are 13 or more software title icons on the system.

For more information, see How to Create Groups of Software.

Bluetooth® Audio volume behavior was changed.

You can now adjust the volume of Bluetooth audio devices using either the Nintendo Switch™ console or through volume control buttons on the Bluetooth audio device.

The Bluetooth audio device must support AVRCP profiles for these changes to work.

The volume displayed on the console will reflect the Bluetooth audio volume when using the device’s control buttons.

The maximum volume output for some Bluetooth audio devices has been increased.

When first connecting a device, volume will be reduced to avoid sudden loudness.

For more information, see How to Pair and Manage Bluetooth Audio Devices.

It’s even better than Wii/Wii U/3DS folders though: you can put the same game in multiple groups.

Still wish this was the main Switch screen instead of only in the Library screen. But I’m not going to whine too much. This is a great update!

Only took you five years to catch up to the Wii U, Switch. I'm proud of you(??)

That was quick, and it only took over 5 years for the Switch to catch up to Wii U and 3DS.

Sadly this is groups not folders. This doesn't let me clean up my mess of games. This is more like a manual sort/filter that's off to the side.

A welcome addition but it's not the same as 3DS and Wii U had.

Also still want themes.

A shame that it's only in the all library section and not the main screen, but still it's nice to have!

Weirdly, I've gotten so used to the way it is, I'm not sure I really need the folders... especially since all the virtual console games are stored in the one app.

But I'm sure I'll be able to group a lot of my digitally purchased games together, and that'll be nice.

Nintendo was waiting for GoNintendo to return to drop this update!

Except they half-assed it. T.T

@nekotaku

Exactly. You can't even see the groups without scrolling over to "all software" so it does nothing to organize your menu. That makes it useless to me.

@popple

I find it funny how much people are praising the Wii U's file system, which didn't even allow for folders to contain other folders. I guess the urge to justify that travesty of a console remains strong among the dozen or so people worldwide who bought one.

On reflection, this isn't as good as I initially thought. Wii U and 3DS folders are better than these groups. Some day Nintendo, some day...
