EA - Nintendo a 'very important partner', huge fans of Nintendo, bringing a 'major game' to Switch

Coming from EA's Peter Moore...

“Nintendo has always been and will always be an very important partner in this industry. They have some of the best first party development studios in the world, and some of the most valuable intellectual properties in the world. We have announced publicly that we got a partnership with them on their new platform, the Switch, we haven’t talked in detail on what’s that about. You can imagine, as you heard, that a major game will be distributed on that platform.

We’re huge fans. We have a relationship that goes many decades back. They’ve had some difficult times as if recently obviously, but never, ever, ever discount Nintendo in this marketplace, and their ability to leverage their superb game development opportunities. Their intellectual properties, whether it’s Mario, whether it’s Zelda, whether it’s Metroid Prime, we could go on forever about what they can do… obviously Pokémon, we’ve seen more recently.

We’re gonna watch with interest and you can rest assured that EA, just like every major publisher, is in regular conversations with Nintendo.”

Tldr. We will release 2 - 3 ports of very old games and then stop supporting the Switch because nobody bought our games.

I was going to say the exact same thing. I expect nothing "major" from them until the Switch dominates the market. Then they'll make a bit of an effort to make a Nintendo like EA game like they did with "MySims"*.

* To be clear, I'm not saying that MySims has the quality of a Nintendo game. Rather MySims is the kind of game (minus the bugs) that 3rd parties should publish to a Nintendo console to be successful.

I'm expecting sports games that I don't want.

You might not want them, but I sure do!

If it's something cool I'll definitely pick it up. Wish it was Andromeda, but I know it won't be. Typically not a fan of sports games though so I'm hoping it isn't just the next Madden or Fifa.

Well, they released Mass Effect 3 on the WiiU.... at the same time that they released the trilogy for every other console for the same price

lol yeah I haven't forgotten about that.

Fifa 18 with the engine of 17 while every other version has a new engine.

Trying to decide which is worse. Comments from EA that I know are disingenuous, OR EA saying nothing about Nintendo systems like they don't exist. I'm leaning toward their disingenuous comments being worse, but it could go either way, at this point.

EA of all people I believe this from the least, considering how hard they threw the Wii U under the bus when Nintendo didn't give them their way in regards to Origin.

I actually own some EA games on my WiiU. Mass Effect 3 and Need for Speed was two good ports for the system (despite the bullshit of releasing the 3 Mass Effects on Xbox and Ps3 for the same price as only 3 on the WiiU). But then I got Fifa 13 and I regret it, half of the times that I try to start the game he frezees my WiiU, it's ridiculous.

I think you just have a bad copy.

My FIFA 13 works fine. But, I've had the same issues with Darksiders 2 that you are having with FIFA.

*Insert unprecedented partnership joke here*

Pretty much the only reason I clicked on the article.

It's probably FIFA. It's their biggest franchise. However, I just don't care about sports games on any platform

lmao, wake me up when heaven hells over!

Calling it, it will be Madden 2013 and Nintendo needs to advertise it.

To be honest, I know I'm pipe dreaming on this one, but I hope it is a Star Wars title....

yep historic statement here, for sure the worst received statement of any "positive" statement.
That "one major game" (they do not shy away from it) is probably something they just have to make because of contractual obligation from the nfl ? fifa ? heck even the nba. at least one game on every major platform that does sound like something those goose would write

so clearly they will be their usual very annoying "partner" making lot of noises, putting down nintendo in order to make their other games appear technologically better or worth it really . also pretending they know nothing about that annual online fee.
in other words , f*** off

Please give the Switch version of the games the latest engines.

Real excellent exiting and fun games will undoubtedly deserve a top spot on every console. I wish them a great and happy time with creating something that good ^^

If EA actually ends up showing good support for Switch and put some excellent games on it I hope the lot of you don't snub those games out of sheer spite. You'd only be proving right anyone who says that third party games don't belong on Nintendo because the fans only buy Nintendo games.

Of course do I believe EA is doing anything but giving lip service right now? Heh heh.... no.

In my personal defense; I haven't bought anything EA for nearly a decade now (save for the NoS on Wii U, which became a grave reminder why I stopped) and I do not plan to do so now, Switch or no Switch. EA gets no money from me.

If you're not buying EA games because they're not your cup of tea then there's no need to defend yourself. I'm not particularly interested in most EA games myself. But if they're games you'd otherwise want to play and you're boycotting out of spite.... then that's just plain childish.

I think it's more of how EA handles their content as a business strategy. Poorly made core games with the need to buy DLC to feel complete, selling season tickets even BEFORE the game is released, let alone right when the pre-order open... Just absolute shit.

I think it hits harder for me cause there were a lot of amazing games EA used to be awesome with, From SSX to Mutant League. And most of it is gone with the soul of the company itself.

I want FIFA! But I want a REAL FIFA! Updated content, fresh engine...

EA sees Nintendo as a very important partner. So important, in fact, that their partnership could be seen as... unprecedented.

Up yours, EA. I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm looking forward to playing madded with regular button controls again. Never got madden for wii u because of how old the game was, and I hated the wii versions.

My dream would be a Rogue Squadron HD collection, but I know that'll never happen.

I could care less about EA in general UNLESS they make a new NBA Street, probably the only series of them I"ve been interested, especially NBA Street V3.

I am absolutely positive Madden is one of these games, and most likely FIFA as well. The real question is which one of their non-sports AAA games do they think will sell the best on Switch? My guess is Star Wars Battlefront.

"a major game will be distributed on that platform"

Wheelspin 2!

wait that was bethesda.

Deadspace Extraction 2!
