Spyro Reignited Trilogy dev remains quiet about the potential for a Switch version

Why didn't the Spyro Reignited Trilogy come to Switch? Your guess is as good as ours. Nintendo UK's online store even had a full preorder listing for the game, but it was quickly yanked down. That would make you think a version has to be in the works, right? If one is, the developers aren't talking. Check out this exchange between Game Informer and Toys For Bob producer Peter Kavic below.

GI: What insight can you guys give for systems? It’s just PS4 and Xbox One right now, right? Is it a window? Is it going to be coming to other systems?

PK: All of our focus was on PS4 and Xbox One. The other stuff, we wanted to get this game out so this is the important thing. We got this into people’s hands. The rest of it, that’s Activision stuff that we aren’t as privy to.

GI: Okay, gotcha. But technically it could run on a Switch I’d imagine – that you had that in mind while designing it.

PK: I have yet to even see it tried, but maybe.

Certainly makes you wonder if the game is ever going to come over. You'd think after the success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on Switch, it would have been a lock!

It could have fit on the disc. The original game takes just over 9GB on the disc and requires a 20GB install for the other games. The likely reason for them not being all on disc from the start is that the other games weren’t ready but Activision didn’t want to delay it so they printed it with just the first game while the teams carried on working on the others so they could be patched in at launch.

Anyway, disregarding how they could have very easily just taken the route of requiring a huge download like many Switch games (whether it’s popular or not, it could have been done)- they managed to get the Crash trilogy on to a Switch cartridge. That game was 20GB on PS4 and ended up being just over 5GB when it came to Switch.

If the compilation exceeds the 50GB size of the PS4 disc just barely, how the hell does anyone expect this to fit on a 16GB card? It just won't. There's no point in bringing it over then really.

I bought it on PS4 and if they released it on Switch, I'd be getting it as well... I would love to play Spyro on the go. =D
