It has taken a long, looooooooooooong time to get Axiom Verge's retail release out on Wii U. Fans have been wondering what was taking the release so long, and today we get the full details on that situation. It all stems from a very sticky situation between Limited Run Games and BadLand.

Very long story very short, Limited Run Games was never given the $78k worth of Axiom Verge Wii U copies that they ordered from BadLand. Limited Run kept trying to get in touch with BadLand after a series of misfires, and BadLand continued to be radio silent. That $78k still hasn't been repaid to Limited Run, which is why they filed a lawsuit over the matter. Even that wasn't enough to get BadLand to show up in court, let alone fully discuss the matter.

As it stands today, Limited Run won their lawsuit by default, as BadLand representation didn't even bother to show up in court. The thing is, BadLand still hasn't returned a dime of that money, and it seems Limited Run is no closer to working the situation out than they were years ago. The end result is Limited Run eating the cost of Axiom Verge on Wii U, as they know it's extremely unlikely the release will recoup any serious amount of money for them.
