Game guides here in the states do exist, but they're not anywhere near as popular as they used to be. With the internet, players can get all the information they want for free, and it's as up-to-date as possible. Over in Japan, it seems the traditional game guide is as popular as ever.

We already talked about the two main Animal Crossing: New Horizons guides in Japan having a top 5 debut when they launched, and now we have some data on just how big the sales have been. So far, KADOKAWA’s guide sold 152,836 units, while Nintendo Dream’s guide sold 79,182 copies, making for a combined total of 232, 018 units sold. A pretty huge debut for Animal Crossing guides!

The public was so excited about these guides that at least one store saw a line of over 100 people form before it opened. Keep in mind that this happened after Japan declared a state of emergency due to the pandemic!
