I think it was a success

We've already talked about how big of a hit Fortnite's "The Device" chapter-ending event was, with Epic having to turn players away due to traffic. Now the company has shared some stats, and things are even more impressive.

The event saw 12 million players hop into the game itself to watch the event before things were shut down. Epic capped off the game in order to maintain stability, which pushed players to watch the action online. Another 8.4 million people did just that, watching The Device play out live through streaming services.

12 million live players participating in The Device event is staggering, but it falls just short of the 12.3 million live players that attended Travis Scott's virtual concerts. Obviously with 8.4 million people watching live, that record could have been toppled if Epic wasn't taking stability precautions.
