RUMOR: Switch accessory manufacturer shares new details on successor's controllers and features
Here we keep going again and again!
The fun never stops when you’re approaching the lead-up to a new Nintendo console. Today’s set of rumored new details comes courtesy of Mobapad, a Switch accessory manufacturer in Japan. They recently shared an article on their web site featuring multiple details they claim to be true of Nintendo’s Switch successor. Here’s the rundown:
- Existing Joy-Cons and Pro Controllers will be compatible with the new system, and HD Rumble will still be featured
- The device will be backwards compatible with original Switch games, but new cartridges will be a different shape/format
- There will be new Joy-Cons that are larger, and attach to the console magnetically. They’ll also have two new buttons (one on the back, one underneath the home menu button), and metallic SL and SR buttons
- The dock will output in 4K and use a USB-C port
- An improved kickstand will provide better support with a damping bracket, allowing for more precise adjustment of the angle when playing in tabletop mode
- The screen will measure 8 inches with 1080p resolution
As always, none of this has been confirmed by Nintendo, so we can’t take anything here as gospel. Mobapad is a legitimate accessory manufacturer, so if a new console is coming soon, it would make sense for them to have access to new information. On the other hand, Nintendo certainly wouldn’t want them to share that info ahead of schedule, so if these details are real, there’s certainly a question as to why Mobapad would decide to make them public.
This most likely won’t be the last set of rumors to come out about a new Nintendo console before it’s officially unveiled. Let’s wait and see which ones turn out to be true!

Wiglett spawn locations uncovered by Pokémon GO player using map tools
Catch it if you can!
Pokémon GO players have recently reported discoveries of the water-type Pokémon Wiglett in the wild. There hasn’t been an official announcement from Niantic about Wiglett’s addition, so players have been scrambling to try and figure out exactly how to find one. It turns out that using some online map tools, fans can pinpoint where to catch an elusive Wiglett pretty accurately!
The technique in question was shared on Reddit by user InsaneNutter. Using OpenStreetMap software online (which is linked to Pokémon GO’s in-game maps), they searched for locations that had the designation of “beach” or “coastal” as those are the areas in which a Wiglett might appear. Certain watery areas that aren’t necessarily what you’d consider a “beach” still count for Wiglett spawns. Thus, if you use the search tool, you might be able to go and find one without having to travel too far.
Click here to get the detailed rundown of how the process works and try it for yourself. Good luck out there, Wiglett hunters!

X-Men '97 event coming to Rocket League April 23rd, 2024
Magneto's powers might be OP
Rocket League has announced that there will be an official X-Men ‘97 crossover event coming to the game in a few days. It will begin on April 23, 2024 and continue until May 7, 2024. The event will give players the chance to unlock special X-Men ‘97 themed items, banners, toppers, and more!
Welcome to the next stage in Soccar’s evolution! From April 23 at 9 AM PT to May 7, 2024, at 6 PM PT, Rocket League will mutate as items based on some of the most powerful characters from X-Men blast onto the arena.
Carry on Professor X’s legacy by completing Challenges to unlock Toppers, Player Banners, and other items inspired by Marvel Animation’s X-Men ‘97 on Disney+. Also, items based on iconic heroes like Cyclops, Wolverine, and Storm have swiped into the Item Shop. Make a pit stop to check out these Decals and more!
TAKE ON CHALLENGES, BUB
Warm up the Blackbird—there are twelve X-Men Challenges that each offer a different reward.
Speaking of the X-Jet, the Blackbird is one of three unlockable Toppers, alongside the Cerebro and Sentinel Head. But first, are you on the side of good or evil? Show where your allegiance lies with three Player Banners, including X-Men, Wolverine, or… Magneto. If you’re one of the heroes, you might also want to swap in the X-Men Wheels.
If you’re as good with a deck of cards as you are with a Soccar ball, then the Gambit Decal is your ace of spades. Every match is more exciting when there are fireworks, so bring the pyrotechnics to the arena with the Jubilee’s Pyrotechnic Energy Boost. Like your energy a bit more… negative? Leave unstable energy wherever you go with the Marvel Crackle Trail.
By completing one of the more difficult Challenges (Play 20 Online Matches), you’ll earn a Golden X-Crate. Open it up from inside your inventory to unlock items from the Champions, Vindicator, or Velocity Series. You can complete this Challenge up to five times, meaning you can unlock up to five X-Crates! There’s also an unlimited Win 10 Online Matches Challenge, which rewards 20,000 XP each time.
GO ROGUE WITH MORE X-MEN ITEMS
From energy beams to weather control and magnetism, it’s fair to say that mutant powers come in all shapes and sizes. Show off the full force of the X-Men with the many Decals and other items in the Item Shop!
First up are two items based on the stand-in leader of the X-Men, Cyclops. Inspire your teammates with the Cyclops Fennec Decal, which replicates Scott Summer’s classic blue and yellow costume. Pair it with the Cyclops’ Optic Blast Boost to zoom off with a red laser beam! When boosting, be careful not to bump into the Rogue Breakout Decal.
Where Cyclops can be found, Jean Grey isn’t far behind. The Jean Grey Dominus Decal features animated flames showing the pyrokinetic power of the cosmic entity that used to control Jean’s mind.
Next up is the Mistress of the Elements. Turn every match into a lightning round with the Storm Breakout Decal. And brighten up the arena even more with the Jubilee Octane Decal complete with shiny sparkles.
How about swapping out the carbon fiber for adamantium? The Wolverine Octane Decal will give your ride retro vibes with Logan’s iconic yellow threads. Celebrate your goals with Snikt! and circumstance with the Wolverine Slash Goal Explosion.
Here’s something that’ll attract attention. Conquer the arena like the powerful leader of the Brotherhood with the Magneto Dominus Decal—a perfect fit for the Mutant Brotherhood Wheels. Control over magnetism not included.

Sonic the Hedgehog 33rd anniversary art shared by SEGA
Gotta age fast
Sonic the Hedgehog was first unleashed upon the world on June 23, 1991. Now, we’re just a couple of months away from the 33rd anniversary of that date! While SEGA probably isn’t planning on going all out the way they did for the game’s 30th anniversary, they do seem to have some celebrations planned.
One of those celebrations is coming early in the form of a brand new render of Sonic, whos appears to be enjoying a special birthday cake. What else does SEGA have in store for us? We have no idea, but they do allude to the June 23rd date coming up in their recent tweet from Sonic’s official Japanese account. Stay tuned!
Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact characters revealed for upcoming demo event
First names on the roster
A demo event for the upcoming fighting game Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact will be taking place at EVO Japan 2024 next weekend. We already knew this event was coming, but now we have more details on what we can expect to see.
Bushiroad has revealed that there will be six playable characters featured in this demo: Gon, Killua, Leorio, Kurapika, Hisoka, and Chairman Netero. As this is a 3x3 fighting game, it makes sense that there will be at least six characters included for players to test out. (Presumably, there will be plenty more available in the final release.)
Alongside the character announcement, they also revealed that a lottery will be held during the event for entrants to try to win some merch - either a t-shirt or a sticker featuring the game’s logo. There’s still a lot we don’t know about this game, but we won’t have to wait long to see more. EVO Japan 2024 takes place the weekend of April 27, 2024.
Zelda: TotK player explores entirety of map after 870 hours
Gotta get those steps in
Most players will only experience a fraction of what The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has to offer, and that’s even more true when it comes to exploring its massive overworld. Some people are just built different however, like @NightGames834, who recently shared an image of his nearly completely explored Tears of the Kingdom map.
Tears of the Kingdom has a great in-game feature which allows you to see the exact path you’ve traced as Link over the course of the game. NightGames834 shared his version of that map on Twitter after playing the game for a whopping 870 hours. As you can see, there’s hardly any corner of the map he didn’t manage to uncover. Unfortunately, the footprint tracking system eventually has to delete older paths to make room for more recent ones, which is why there are some notably empty areas from the earlier sections of the game. Still, it’s an incredible screenshot, especially considering the time and effort that went into creating it.
How much of Hyrule has your Link managed to explore? What impressive Tears of the Kingdom feat will be accomplished next? Like with Breath of the Wild, it seems like new milestones will be reached and shared for years to come.
Final Fantasy: The Six Moogle Siblings’ Mob Hunt board game announced
Could always use more moogles
Square Enix has announced that they’re working on a brand new board game that takes place in the world of Final Fantasy. The game is called Final Fantasy: The Six Moogle Siblings’ Mob Hunt. It’ll be available in demo form at Game Market 2024 Spring, which takes place in Tokyo on April 27, 2024.
The six moogle siblings are a group of moogles from Ivalice, all of which appear in Final Fantasy XII. Square Enix has yet to reveal any major game details, such as how it plays, or what types of components it will include. However, they did share images of some of the in-game cards, which feature a variety of cute moogles and other characters. Check out those cards below, along with some rough translations courtesy of Game Rant:
- Montblanc: [When the game ends] +2VP on victory
- Van (a.k.a. Vaan): [Face side] This card can be moved to other fields during your own turn.
- Morbol (a.k.a. Malboro): [When the game ends] Place a fatigue token on cards with original power of 7 or more when the game ends.
- Hurdy: [Face side] Draw a card, and then send a card from hand to the bottom of deck.
- Panelo (a.k.a. Penelo): [When the game ends] Remove all fatigue tokens from your own cards in this field. No more fatigue tokens can be placed in the future.
- Pylraster: Nullify all [When the game ends] text in cards.
Based on those translations, it sounds like players will be competing for victory points and affecting opponents with fatigue tokens and other special actions. Hopefully, this game will get a localized release at some point. That could be a ways off however, since we don’t even have a release date for the Japanese version yet. Stay tuned, as more details should become available after the Game Market event next week.
