Generation Esports is an organization that hosts and arranges video game tournaments for gamers of all ages, with a special emphasis on education and mental health. Now, they’ve announced an official partnership with Nintendo for their Middle School Esports League. The Nintendo games that will now be featured in this league are Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 3.

The tournament will launch on February 27, 2023, and there will be no entry fee to compete. Generation Esports will also be providing Nintendo Switch consoles to a number of schools in an effort to allow more kids to sign up.

“Every student deserves the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities that best suit their interests — and nothing shows our commitment to them better than establishing the framework to make school seem more fun,” said Mason Mullenioux, CEO at Generation Esports.

According to the announcement, this collaboration with Nintendo is “starting with” the Middle School League, but it sounds like more games could be added in the future. Read Generation Esports’ official announcement for more info.
