The Wii U and 3DS eShops are set to close on March 27th, 2023. While you’ll still be able to redownload your already-purchased games after that date, it will be impossible to make new purchases. That’s why many are scrambling to buy any titles they’ve missed over the years.

YouTuber Jirard “The Completionist” Khalil is keenly aware of the 3DS/Wii U eShops closing, and he wanted to make sure he snagged every single game available before the plug was pulled. Consider it the ultimate showing of support for these legacy devices, as well as passion for preserving games for future generations.

When all was said and done, The Completionist spent $22,791 USD getting every single digital title available on the Wii U and 3DS. This amounted to 866 Wii U and 1547 3DS games (including DSiWare, Virtual Console and DLC). These games took up a whopping 1.2 TB on Wii U and 267 GB on 3DS.

If you want to see a detailed video on this entire journey, you can check out The Completionist’s feature below.

I legitimately considered this on 3DS as well, but going through the shop this last week, it is a significant amount of trash on there and felt it wasn't worth it. I spent a bit on some things I wanted though.

I have a Wii U too, but I barely played it while it was current even so eh.

I’m actually surprised how relatively small the total storage requirement is for both, especially 3DS. Also surprising Wii U had THAT many games.

Woah .. These folks had quite a mission there! : D Great to see people taking all the necessary effort for games preservation. So many hoops to jump through to just buy and download what Nintendo has online .. O_ o
