The 3DS and Wii U eShops are now officially closed, meaning you can no longer make new purchases from those shops. However, Nintendo is throwing one small bone to anyone who may have experienced technical difficulties this weekend due to the increased demand on the eShop: The expiration date for Wii U and 3DS eShop redemption codes has been extended until April 3, 2023 at 9:00pm ET.

This means that for the next six days or so, if you have an existing code allowing you to unlock a game, a DLC pack, or theme from one of the now defunct eShops, you’ll still be able to enter and redeem it via the eShop menu. This is good news for anyone who was shut out or received an error because of the number of people trying to access the eShop this weekend before it shut down.

Unfortunately, the date to purchase new games has not been changed or extended, but if you’ve got a code for something handy or know how to get one, your time is not up! Again, these will be redeemable via the Wii U or 3DS eShops from now until April 3rd at 9:00pm Eastern Time.
