Sonic Frontiers got its first wave of DLC content last month in the form of some new modes and quality of life updates. This was the first of three announced DLC updates, and the third release is apparently going to bring some new story content to the game.

Sonic Frontiers’ original writer Ian Flynn announced on Twitter that he would be returning for this third wave of DLC to work on its story. According to Flynn, the key details and outline of the story have been provided by Sonic game director Morio Kishimoto, while his job is to flesh things out from there. He also says that the DLC will be “truly important”, implying this will contain more than just a simple side plot.

The next Sonic Frontiers DLC is set to release on June 23, and will include more new modes and collectibles. We don’t have a specific date yet for the third wave of story DLC, but we do know that it will feature new playable characters. Stay tuned!
