Star Ocean: The Second Story R is coming to Switch this November, when it will also be releasing on PC and PS5. When it comes to multiplatform releases, the Switch versions of games don’t always stand up to the others in terms of technical specifications. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with this one as well.

According to user dodo667418 on the Resetera forums, a representative at Gamescom stated that the game would run at 30 frames per second on Switch. This is a step down from the 60 frames per second that other versions will manage. This could be disappointing to gamers who prefer a smoother gameplay experience, but you may find the trade-off of portability worth it.

Some new footage of the game being demoed at Gamescom has also surfaced, courtesy of Gaming Boulevard, so you can see for yourself exactly how it runs. Check it out below, and stay tuned for the official release on November 2nd, 2023.
