As well as some special "Guest Kharacters"...
We’re just a few weeks away from the release of Mortal Kombat 1 on Switch, and more and more marketing materials are starting to make the rounds. Some of those may be of particular interest to fans, as they indicate that the game will be receiving additional Kameo fighters as DLC some time in the future.
Kameo fighters are part of a feature in Mortal Kombat that allows you to have an additional character join you during a match. Sort of like activating an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros., the Kameo fighter will appear and help you out when called upon. This option allows them to fill out the roster with more varied characters that might not be big enough to make the final cut otherwise.
Some Brazilian marketing materials were discovered by @thethiny on Twitter/X recently, and they highlight Kameo Fighters DLC and “Guest Kharacters”. Check it out below.
This comes from an English translation done by user jamiegorevan on Reddit. As of now, we don’t have official confirmation of this being accurate, and it’s possible there’s a translation error or other miscommunication at play here. If it’s legit however, this means Mortal Kombat 1 will indeed be receiving new Kameo Fighters down the line, possible some “Guest Kharacters” (i.e. characters from other non-Mortal Kombat fighting games).
Hopefully, NetherRealm clarifies soon with news of their own! Who do you hope shows up in the game? You’ll get the chance to play it for yourself on September 19th, 2023.
