Fortnite has announced another new in-game feature designed to accommodate parents and players in different age brackets. From this point forward, all islands will have an age and content rating displayed on its homepage before joining. Parents can adjust the game’s settings to restrict their younger children from joining games with certain ratings.

Unfortunately, this new setting also affects players’ choice of certain cosmetic items. Outfits that aren’t deemed appropriate for everyone can’t be used on islands with family-friendly ratings. If one does equip one of these outfits, the game will simply convert it to the default outfit after joining. The Fortnite team made the following statement on what to expect regarding this change in the future:

Today, about 7% of Fortnite Outfits can only be equipped in islands rated Teen (or regional equivalent). Over the next year we will enable most of these Outfits to be compatible with all ratings by having them auto-adjust appearance based on the island you want to play.

Following the recent addition of voice reporting functionality, this is another of Fortnite’s attempts to make the game a safer, friendlier environment for younger players. Hopefully, they continue to listen to player feedback and make adjustments as needed.
