Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with live jazz band featured in Oklahoma City bar

The Mario Kart series is filled with iconic tunes, so what better way to do them justice than with a live jazz band covering the game’s music? Better yet, why not have the band play those songs live while you’re playing the game? Well, that’s exactly what you could experience at The 51st Street Speakeasy in Oklahoma City.
So far, there have been two performances of Mario Kart 8 Live at the Speakeasy. The band is made up of local jazz musicians who put their improvisational skills to good use by playing along with live Mario Kart 8 gameplay in the bar. Participants can buy tickets in order to play the game on a big screen, with the band providing the backing music and sound effects. So far, Mario Kart Live events have been held in December 2023 and January 2024, with another scheduled for March 30, 2024. It’s $20 for a ticket, and then names are drawn throughout the day to determine player order. Some events are also planned as tournaments, so you can compete for prizes while enjoying the live music!
