Sidescrolling action game Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is getting its very own anime adaptation. Originally released on Switch in 2020 by Marvelous, the anime version is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2024. The game’s storyline centers around a harvest goddess named Sakuna, who is banished from her home and sent to an island inhabited by demons.

The Sakuna anime was announced by TOHO Animation, and will be produced by P.A. Works, the team behind shows like Shirobako and Hanasaku Iroha. Details are scarce, but multiple characters and voice actors returning from the original game have been confirmed. We should learn more during AnimeJapan 2024 which takes place on March 23, 2024.
