The Metal Gear Solid franchise has a storied history, and you can bet there are some little known tidbits from the series’ development that fans would love to hear about. Who better to detail some of those secrets than David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake himself? In a new video from Did You Know Gaming, Hayter does exactly that.

The factoids in this video come courtesy of Metal Gear Solid: Integral, an extended version of the original Metal Gear Solid which was only released in Japan. This edition of the game included a series of ‘codec calls’ in which the developers divulged some behind the scenes details. In this video, David Hayter narrates forty of the most interesting revelations from those codecs in English for the first time.

What was up with that forklift in the original Metal Gear Solid? What secret codec calls are hidden in the game? What Easter eggs are there for fans of Kojima’s game Policenauts? The answers to these questions and more are revealed in the full video, which you can check out up above.
