Earlier this week, Brace Yourself Games announced that there would be some kind of announcement for their game Crypt of the NecroDancer on August 4th, 2022. The day has arrived, and after a 5-year silence the game is officially getting a new DLC expansion titled ‘Synchrony’.

Alongside the DLC announcement, a new “standalone rhythm game in the NecroDancer universe” was teased alongside the announcement video. The game will be titled titled Rift of the NecroDancer and the logo for it can be seen below. More details, including platforms and release date, are yet to come.

Check out the announcement video from the team on Twitter below, which showcases just some of what players can expect in the full DLC. Some core features of the expansion are:

  • Online multiplayer
  • 3 new characters
  • Full mod support (mod support courtesy of mod.io)
  • New items, enemies & more

The DLC is already available via Steam Early Access, and a response to a Twitter question confirms that the update will also eventually come to consoles, presumably including Nintendo Switch.
