Although details are scarce, Nintendo has confirmed that large-scale paid DLC is in development for Splatoon 3. It’s unknown exactly what this DLC will entail, but seeing as how it’s being advertised, it will likely be something as major as Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion.

1y agoDLC announcements before a game even releases, puts me right off. There's 12 stages at launch, at least half of those come from Splatoon 1&2, they promise future updates. The game is being released half-baked, another one.

1y agoIt'll probably be the more fleshed-out single player content we wished we got at launch.

1y agoThey should have kept the free content update info drops in the presentation and left this paid DLC announcement spiel until 6-8 months after launch. It's nice that they're expressing support pass the game's launch with this more extensive update, but this was too early for me.
It does save their butts in their future when the DLC info drops cause they were already committed to it being paid. No surprise down the line, but now we gotta judge if it's worth being a paid expansion.
Agreed! They probably want to see how people react to the base game's story mode and tweak the expansion from there. It could lead to a new species entering the turf wars (CUTTLEFISH CREW or MAMMAL MANIA plz) or expand on a certain area/mechanic in story mode that people loved that makes it way to online matches
