Next Level Games Founder and current President, Douglas Tronsgard, has announce that he is retiring from his position. He made the following statement via his LinkedIn account:

After over 20 years in the Video Game Industry, I am happy to announce my retirement. I wanted to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped me on my journey to get here. A special thank you to Nintendo for believing in me and Next Level Games. It’s truly been my honor to be a part of NLG’s incredible history.

I look forward to a new chapter in my life that should involve lots of travelling with my wife. :).

Take care everyone and enjoy the journey!

Douglas.

Tronsgard has been with Next Level Games for 20 years, since its founding in 2002. During that time (first as CEO, then as President), he’s overseen the development of critically acclaimed titles like Punch-Out!! (2009), Super Mario Strikers (2005), and Luigi’s Mansion 3 (2019).

During the most recent Nintendo Direct, many fans were excited to see the announcement of a new entry in the Mario Strikers series - Mario Strikers: Battle League. In spite of Tronsgard’s departure, Battle League is still on track for a release on June 10th of this year. We look forward to playing more Next Level Games titles and wish Douglas the best of luck in his new endeavors!

Looks like Next Level Games is one Doug-less.

Seriously though, they've been making some quality games with Nintendo IP and hopefully that doesn't change with his departure.
