Overwatch 2 hit with DDos attack, bringing servers down for launch day
No word yet on who's behind the attack
As we shared earlier, today is launch day for Overwatch 2. Blizzard took action a few days before launch in order to shut down Overwatch and prepare for a smooth transition to Overwatch 2. Unfortunately, launch day has now been the victim of a DDoS attack, meaning the game is largely unplayable.
Blizzard president Mike Ybarra took to Twitter to confirm the DDoS attack, and says the team is working to get things back up-and-running. You can see Mr. Ybarra’s full statement below.
“Unfortunately we are experiencing a mass DDoS attack on our servers. Teams are working hard to mitigate/manage. This is causing a lot of drop/connection issues.”
