As of time of posting, we have exactly 3 hours until the debut trailer for the Super Mario Bros. movie releases. Roughly 24 hours ago, we saw a potential leak of Mario’s design from the movie. Now we’re following that up with a possible look at Princess Peach in the movie, and it slots in nicely with the previous Mario rumor.
Once again, we have a leak that is tied to McDonald’s Australia. It seems promotional materials for upcoming tie-ins with McDonald’s made their way onto the internet, giving us a peek at collaborations the restaurant chain has planned out. The first leak showed us a sneak peek at Mario’s design for the film, and now a bigger image shows off what Princess Peach could look like.
While the reaction to Mario’s design has been mixed-to-good, I think this Peach design will go over much better. It’s very much the classic Princess Peach we know, but with a few subtle tweaks and shifts. Overall, if this is the real deal, I have to say I’m really pleased with the direction!
We’ll all find out if this is legit or not in a matter of hours, so if you want to get in on the Team Real/Team Fake debate, you better do so now!

You know, for both of those designs, it's like Illumination found the "Japanese design aesthetic" slider and moved it down just a few notches--not far enough for it to lose its charm, though.
I'm really looking forward to the direct.

8M agoI think I like the look of Peach. Her design is better than her traditional look. Again, we need to see it motion to really tell. Toad didn't make the cut here. 😉

8M agoThinking about Illumination's previous work, I can visualize the characters animation. And I don't think these images are fake at all. Just barely over an hour to go now.

So we know now that this poster isn't fake. We didn't get to see Peach today in the trailer. Can't spoil everything in a teaser trailer, that's the whole point.
