Bravely Default celebrated its 10th anniversary yesterday, and Square Enix released a special anniversary set along with a vinyl album to celebrate the occasion. If you were hoping for something a little more in honor of the 10th anniversary, it seems like there might be something in the works.

During a “Square Enix Asano Team Development Room Radio #1: Bravely Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary” live-stream, Bravely Default producer Tomoya Asano shared an interesting comment on the game. You can read the comment below, which certainly makes it seem like a remaster is in the works.

“Over the past 10 years, our team has grown larger, and our capacity has increased. Looking at the opening movie of [Bravely Default:] Flying Fairy, I feel like announcing a remaster of [Bravely Default:] Flying Fairy would be the best possible thing and something fans would desire. But for now I’m unfortunately unable to announce anything like that. ‘For now,’ let’s just say.”

[Producer Tomoya Asano]

That’s a pretty clear tease of a remaster being in the works. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll have to remain patient for now, and hope that an official confirmation takes place sometime in the near future.

Finally, Asano also asked fans if they a third installment in the Bravely franchise, but never made any specific comments as to what that could be or where it would release. I think it’s pretty obvious fans would love to see a third installment, and hopefully a successful remasters of the original game could lead to that.

That would be amazing! I never got a chance to play it on the original system, and I would love a second shot at it on Switch!

Developers really are so lazy these days. It's remaster this, remaster that. Why don't they just make new games? It's because it's far more profitable to remaster existing games because the bulk of the work is already done, rather than start from scratch. Wait and see this will have a full new game price. As well as overpriced collector's editions. Does Bravely Default even really need a remaster after only 10 years? No! But... money!

The only way I'd be interested in this is if they try a different art style for the remaster. I really wasn't a fan of the art style they took on 3DS where the character models clashed with the backgrounds.

Do you think they throw out a remaster and say 'Well, that oughta do it for the foreseeable future! Let's do nothing the next few years."
Of course they release a remaster while working on a new game as well!
Remasters of great games and new ones? I see this as a win-win.
