According to Sakurai, taking animations a bit too far is when things are just right. Pushing things past their natural limits in animations can make for impossible poses when animation is paused, but in motion you get a much more fulfilling impact.
Turning the animation knob up to 11 is the perfect way to add weight, impact and serious punch to your character’s movements. It’s a videogame after all, so why not dial things up to outlandish levels?
