Super Mario Odyssey celebrates a big milestone today, as it was released for the Switch five years ago, on October 27, 2017. Combining elements of several past Mario titles with countless new ideas and mechanics, Odyssey is something special for Mario fans. Its open world design and iconic locations like New Donk City have helped it stay relevant years after its release.

It's weird how Switch is the only console that has still felt so new to me. Like there's no way its more than 2 years old max.
Timeline of 3D Mario games, for context:
2010: Galaxy 2
2011: 3D Land
2014: 3D World
2020: The Pandemic (yes, that’s relevant, as it is for all development timelines)
So yeah, it’s kinda weird there’s been no Odyssey follow-up, but it’s not THAT unprecedented. Surely there’s hope for 2023…right?
