Following yesterday’s Q2 report on Fiscal Year 2023, Nintendo has shared a follow-up Corporate Management Policy Briefing that has shared some interesting tidbits.

In one portion of their briefing, Nintendo has shared some details on how the digital side of their business is doing. Just in case you missed the stats yesterday, digital sales in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2022 rose to 359.6 billion yen, roughly six times the amount seen in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2018.

In the graph above, we see that downloadable versions of packaged software, shown in red, comprised 56.2% of total digital sales, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships accounted for approximately half of the remaining sales, which are indicated in blue.

Nintendo also mentioned that unit sales of downloadable software accounted for 38.5% of all software sold in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2022. This is on par with the fiscal year ended March 31, 2021, which saw a huge contribution from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Really impressive to see things hold up even without the massive boom from Animal Crossing.
