Masahiro Sakurai simply doesn’t know how to rest. While work on Smash Bros. Ultimate is complete, Sakurai has taken on another project altogether with his game development video series. He’s already released a ton of videos since the project’s announcement, and today’s he back with yet another installment.
In today’s video, Sakurai gets into the topic of making sure playable characters don’t get lost in the action. According to Sakurai, if your visual effects are too flashy, they’ll end up outshining your characters. That’s why Sakurai believes it’s important to find ways to keep effects impactful without interfering with other elements.
Definitely one of the more development-focused features in Sakurai’s series, but interesting nonetheless. Give it a watch above!
