Japanese Pokémon Scarlet/Violet commercial focuses on adults

While the Pokemon franchise is definitely adored by kids the world over, there’s always a huge portion of the fanbase that is older in years. Plenty of adults are going to pick up Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on Nov. 18th, 2022, and Pokémon Co. aims to welcome them with a new commercial.

The commercial above features actor Kotone Furukawa as Yamada, a tired office worker. Yamada meets a mysterious man from the World of Pokemon, who’s played by actor Eita Nagayama. Nagayama is dressed in an outfit matching the male player’s apparel in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and he invites Yamada to come to Paldea with him.

According to Nagayama, the World of Pokemon is a place “where you can do anything, or nothing, if you want.” Yamada accepts the offer, and he travels to a place where “the winds of freedom blow.”
