Fire Emblem Engage's island of Somniel and amiibo functionality detailed, plus a look at more units/Emblems

Just yesterday, Nintendo announced plans for an Expansion Pass for Fire Emblem Engage. Today, they’ve followed up with a deluge of news on the game in general. First up, we have details on the island of Somniel.

Somniel is a floating island located in the Holy Land of Lythos. This location serves as your base of operations, letting you rest, as well as prepare yourself for your next battle. Somniel is host to a variety of shops that sell weapons, tools, and more. The deeper you get into the game’s story, the more items these stores will offer.

The weapon shop will sell weapons, and let you cash in weapons you don’t want anymore. The tool shop will offer medicine, staves and more. Finally, the boutique shop will sell outfits and accessories for your units to wear.

Next up, we got confirmation of amiibo functionality in Fire Emblem Engage. Scanning in an amiibo of any kind will net you a variety of useful items. If you scan in a Fire Emblem amiibo specifically, you’ll get a costume based on the character scanned, plus a music track from the game they appear in.
