Publisher Prototype has announced that they’re bringing the Key-developed romance visual novel Kanon to the Switch, and it’s set to arrive sometime in Spring 2023 in Japan. This is an enhanced port of Kanon, which originally launched for PC all the way back in 1999.

The Switch version of Kanon is going to include the following tweaks and features.

  • color readjustments
  • ability to scroll up and down event CG
  • 16:9 ratio
  • most characters are fully voiced, aside from the protagonist, who is only partly voiced
  • Ayu Tsukimiya, Nayuki Minase, Mai Kawasumi, and Makoto Sawatari’s voice actors remain unchanged
  • Shiori Misaka appears to be voiced by Akari Sato

Kanon’s story follows the life of Yuichi Aizawa, a high school student who returns to a city he last visited seven years prior, and he has little recollection of the events from back then. He meets several girls and slowly regains his lost memories.

The gameplay in Kanon follows a branching plot line which offers pre-determined scenarios with courses of interaction, and focuses on the five female main characters and their interactions with the player character.

Wow, this is a pleasant surprise! Better grab some tissues (no, not for the reason you think of!)!
