Triangle Strategy hits 1 million units sold
Looks like the strategy paid off!
Back in March of this year, Square Enix announced that Triangle Strategy had achieved 800k units sold worldwide. That figure included both digital and physical copies, and was definitely an achievement to be proud of. Today, Square Enix has shared another sales update for the game, and it’s an even bigger milestone.
Square Enix has confirmed that Triangle Strategy has officially hit 1 million units sold worldwide. That means another 200k units have found their way into homes since last check-in. This continues a very impressive trend for Square Enix, as they’ve released multiple brand-new IP on Switch that have achieved 1 million units sold or more.
In honor of this milestone, Square Enix has shared the celebratory artwork you see above. Remember, if you’re still iffy on whether Triangle Strategy is for you, give the free demo on the Switch eShop a try!

Good to see new IPs do well. Encourages more new ideas rather than always playing it safe with established franchises.

6M agoIt took quite a while to reach that milestone. Square Enix and Nintendo were Tweeting within a few weeks of its release that Octopath Traveler had done likewise.

That was over 4 years ago. The Switch install base is many times the size it was back then, so it should be easier to reach such milestones. Plus some of those sales numbers would be from when the game was discounted, whereas Octopath Traveler's 1 million sales weren't.
They said “shipped” not “sold” 4 years ago.

Oh I'm well aware of that. I'm 99% sure I made a point of stating that shipping isn't the same as selling, and I had people having a go at me for that too.

If comments were still available, you would see that.
And I do wonder about the thumbs up system here.
The point still stands, if you read the link at Gematsu, be it the headline or the first line of text, "Total worldwide SHIPMENTS and digital sales for Triangle Strategy". So it still hasn't SOLD 1 million copies.
And my other point is relevant too. The Switch has sold in excess of 114 million units last we heard. When Octopath Traveler released, that number was around 20 million, and that's being generous.
