Back in 2005, Ubisoft had started work on Rayman 4, which was going to come to Wii and other platforms. After just a few months of work, Ubisoft decided to pull the plug on that project. Now, over 17 years later, the source code for Rayman 4’s prototype has found its way online.

As you might expect, the source code for Rayman 4 doesn’t have a ton of content, as the game was canned early into its development. Still, there’s enough there to show off some mechanics and test stages that made it through various levels of progress.

The footage above shows off one of the more complete areas. This stage sees Rayman enter a Rabbid Robot to destroy it from within.

To be clear, this is just the beginnings of what’s been found in this prototype source code. With the right people and technical know-how, we could actually see a considerable amount of this data turned into playable snippets of the game. We’ll just have to wait and see if hackers and hobbyists decide to tackle that task.
