2022 was a very good year for Sonic the Hedgehog fans. All kinds of content was released, most important of which was a brand-new mainline Sonic game! You’d think that would be the end of the push for Sonic and SEGA would take a break for a bit, but it appears quite the opposite is happening.

In an interview with Famitsu magazine, Sonic Team’s Takashi Iizuka spoke about what’s ahead for the new year. Apparently, there’s a lot more Sonic love to come! Specifics weren’t shared, but teases for fresh Sonic action were very clearly made. You can see Iizuka’s comment below, as translated by Gematsu.

“This past year was the biggest year in Sonic history, including the release of the movie sequel, new titles Sonic Origins and Sonic Frontiers, and the Netflix animation Sonic Prime. We are preparing a second wave to keep the fans happy and maintain that momentum going into 2023. We already announced additional content for Sonic Frontiers, but there is a lot more outside of that, so please look forward to it.”
