A little over a week ago, we made mention of the dire situation at STEINS;GATE dev, MAGES. At that point in time, we learned the company was entering insolvency, and that news has been followed by a major company departure.

MAGES chairman and representative director, Chiyomaru Shikura, has announced that he’s stepping down from those positions due to the company’s failings. That said, Shikura will hang around for a bit more in the role of executive producer on upcoming software releases.

As it stands now, MAGES has suffered another round of financial losses totaling roughly $4.6 million. This puts MAGES dangerously close to a bankruptcy situation, but that’s not official at this time. Hopefully some new company management and rejiggering of projects can help get MAGES back on the positive side of things.
